Portrait of an Artist (2011) was my final 2011 senior artwork. The work shows an enlarged portrait image of a previous art teacher of mine that dominates the entire canvas, painted in a variety of colours. By using thick, bold, textured and colourful brushstrokes I have aimed to capture the very essence of Robyn as I know her; as an artist. 100 x 100cm. Acryllic paint on canvas.

Skeleton (2010) is the artwork produced from my short course in Art and Design at London’s University of the Arts, Central Saint Martins College in December 2010. The course focussed on the concept of the human body, so, inspired by a field trip to the nearby Royal College of Surgeons, life drawing exercises and a magazine advertisment, I created this 2D artwork which explores the human skeleton built from smaller people within each bone. A2. Black graphite pencil on paper.

Times Squared (2010) is a mixed print work produced as an exploration of the influence of pop culture on society’s core values. The work features red etched prints of a Coca-Cola bottle, lipstick and designer shoe placed as structures amongst a lino print of the iconic New York City Times Square landscape. The etchings reflect the materialistic obsessions in western culture, and how, over time, these objects have formed a permanent place in society; even more so, blended in so that they are now indistinguishable from the landscape. My artwork aims to highlight these objects and how they have become part of the modern mind. 40 x 30cm. Etchings and lino print.
